ATW:Bloodline Fist Review
So we sent out a bunch of press screeners to review sites, magazines, and other press outlets just to get some exposure for the film and to get some professional opinions and feedback. I got home tonight from the monthly Columbus Indie Club meeting and sat down to my desk to find an email from Mike "Scraps" Eshelman at Bum's Corner, our first review is in.
So I read over it a little nervous, but am quickly delighted. This is more than I could have hoped for and I'm very glad someone liked the movie outside our little community of filmmakers. I'm now more excited anticipating other reviews and I can't wait, even if they are not as flattering.
The thing is I know that not all reviews might be this good or any good at all. I'm prepared for this, but the idea that one person might trash the work we all (cast and crew included) put into this makes me a little nauseated. I personally love the movie, I know many, if not all, the cast and crew at least like it if not love it. Some in the community who have had the chance to see it enjoyed it a lot too (you can see quotes from some of them on the bottom of our homepage).
When I went back to actually read the short email we were sent I saw this one line that sums up the very positive review Mike gave us:
This makes me obviously feel very good. Not so much about myself (though I do feel good about myself), but about the efforts of all the people that got involved. This shows that we didn't do the work for nothing and it is something people can dig into and has the ability to accomplish the goals we set out to meet. It's a glimmer of hope on the horizon for all of us. I also feel good because in a way it's confirmation I didn't put everyone through hell for nothing. I really hope everyone who is part of this is as excited as I am and proud too because they all did a great job! That's one of the most professional looking indie projects I've seen in a while
We will be screening A Thousand Words: Bloodline at Cleveland Indie Club April 22nd so if you'd like to see it and you're in the area come on out to check it out. You won't regret it.
