OSU Film & Video Meeting Follow-up
Ok, well it wasn't that big a deal and I worried myself about nothing. It was about the size of group we get at Indie Club but we didn't know anyone. The only thing I'm worried about now was if we clearly got our message across and if anyone will come out to Indie Club or get more involved in the filmmaking scene around Columbus.
I did notice that the group has issues that we have solutions to if they go that step to expand their world beyond the college student group they've created. I think that there is a lot of potential for the general community to benefit from these people as well as them to benefit from people in the film community here.
I think some of the things we touched on hit home for at least a couple people and I'm looking forward to seeing them at a future meeting. When you isolate yourself from others and make yourself exlusive you miss out on benefits and opportunities and deprive others of benefits and opportunities they might have when working with each other.
The whole point of this thing was to tell people about what we do as Tempered Zealot but also and more importantly what we do as Indie Club leaders. I feel that we put the message out there but we talked about so much and went back and forth and went on about everything that I wonder if part of the message didn't get lost.
Talking is ok, but I just am always in a rush to make sure I get the message out so I can address details later. Also, once you get me talking it's hard to stop. Jerod is the same way. He went on a few times. The thing is it shows passion for what we do and the hope is that we can pass that on and influence others to become passionate about making movies and getting involved more.
It's a common theme where people gather and talk about doing things. The hard part seems to be actually doing them. We often put our own obstacles in front of ourselves, tonight I hope we removed some of those by letting them know about the resources available to them and the benefit of networking in the independent environment that is Columbus filmmaking.
Either way, we had a good time and were very grateful for the opportunity to share ourselves and what we do with other people.
